AEMME ROAD BIKE ToUR
A ROADBIKE TOUR IN PUGLIA, ONE OF THE RICHEST PLACES IN THE WORLD FOR THE VARIETY OF ITS BACKGROUNDS, HILLY VILLAGES, FOOD AND TRADITION.

The Aemme Road Bike Tour of Puglia, this beautiful region of southern Italy is an unusual cycling holiday that will be remembered for a long time.
Puglia is one of the richest places in the world for variety of cultures, hill towns, food and traditions.
Kilometers of coastline frame centuries-old olive groves, ravines, trulli, Saracen towers (watchtowers against attacks from the sea launched by the Saracens, peoples from the Arabian Peninsula or of Muslim religion) ancient historic villages.
Here nature is the protagonist in an explosion of shapes, colors and flavors that lasts all year round with exclusive and luxury accommodations.
A land that has always been a crossroads of different cultures and with so much to offer must be discovered slowly.
A local cycling tour guide will accompany you on this extraordinary bike tour.

DAY 2-Masseria Santa Teresa- Castellana- Conversano-Polignano-Monopoli  75km
Today we will take you to the historicol centers of Castellana Grotte and Conversano, ending our day in the wonderful town of Polignano a Mare.
Along quiet secondary roads, we will cycle towards Castellana Grotte for about 17 kilometers to arrive at the small historic square of the town. Next, we will head to Conversano, an ancient agricultural center, built on a hill in the southeastern Murge, famous above all for the production of excellent cherries. We will visit its historic center where we can admire the castle of Norman origin, the cathedral and the convent of San Benedetto.
We can also take a coffee break in the beautiful square. We will resume in the saddle and, after about 10 kilometers, facing some gentle hills, we will arrive at the sea and visit one of the most fascinating places in Puglia, Polignano a Mare.
Polignano a Mare is famous for the fans of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series (an international diving competition founded in 2009 and organized by Red Bull. Women have also competed since 2014. The divers jump from a platform located between 26 and 28 meters.) And is a village built on the cliffs overlooking the sea.
Entering the historic center we will visit the characteristic alleys and panoramic balconies. Along the coast, we arrive at the historic center of Monopoli where a visit to Piazza Garibaldi and the port will be inevitable, after which we will return to our accommodation.

DAY 3-Alberobello-Locorotondo-Martina Franca-Selva di Fasano 60km
We will ride for about 60 kilometers, on one of the most important itineraries in the Itria Valley: we will be immersed in nature among olive trees, trulli and a wonderful landscape unique in the world.
The first part of the day, with a panorama of centuries-old olive trees, will take us to the town of Coreggia.
Pedaling along quiet side streets, we will enjoy splendid views.
We will immerse ourselves in the intense blue of the sea and an olive grove that extends from the coast to the hills of the Murgia pedaling along quiet side streets enjoying this great scenario.
Once in Monopoli, bordered by dry stone walls and trulli, we will head towards Alberobello, "Capital of the trulli and UNESCO heritage".
The houses of Alberobello are unique. We will visit the streets of the village and after about 10 kilometers we will reach Locorotondo, the destination of the day.
Locorotondo is a small town in the Itria Valley, between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea, characterized by a breathtaking panorama.
Locorotondo is defined as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and owes its name to the particular rounded morphology of its historic center which makes it pleasant to visit.
Next, we will cycle to Martina Franca, about 9 km away, known for its Baroque architecture and the Valle d'Itria music festival.
Martin Franca is located on the southern slopes of the Murge, on the border of the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi with the metropolitan city of Bari.
After lunch we will cycle for about 35 kilometers through the Itria Valley and then return to our accommodation where we will conclude the third day of this unforgettable bike tour.

DAY 4-Castellana Grotte-Putignano-Noci 62 km
Another extraordinary day on a bicycle awaits us to discover the Apulian traditions and it will also be the ideal opportunity to taste the delicious local dairy products.
After having traveled the "Panoramica" of Monopoli we will cross a network of historic villages and from there, after 20 kilometers, we will arrive in Putignano.
Putignano, 375 m above sea level from which it is 18 km away, is known for its manufacturing companies and for its karst caves and for its Carnival, the oldest in Europe.
You cannot miss the morning coffee or cappuccino along the typical stone streets.
Keeping on riding for about 7 kilometers, crossing a historic stone bridge, we will arrive at the village of Noci which rises on the southern hills of the Murge.
Noci is famous for its dairy products: burrata, mozzarella and ricotta, which you will have a chance to taste. At the end of the visit and the stop, we will than return to our accommodation.

DAY 5-Ostuni 100 km
This itinerary, of about 100 kilometers, will allow us to discover the colors and scents typical of Puglia with the Adriatic Sea in the background.
Today we will cycle for about 40 kilometers to arrive in Ostuni called "the white city".
Along the way you will see the typical landscape of rolling hills.
Next stop is Ostuni, a renowned tourist center that from 1994 to 2018 received the Blue Flag and the five sails of Legambiente (body that monitors the quality of the sea, coasts and cities) for its beaches and clean seas and for the quality of services offered: you cannot miss a short coffee break.
It must be said that Ostuni is internationally famous for the white city and the historic center rather than for its beaches, rocks and sand.
One last effort of 18 kilometers to return to our accommodation

DAY 6-Matera 76 km
Back in the saddle to ride along the "Panoramica" of Monopoli and its typical countryside landscapes, we will reach Putignano again, another city in Puglia with a splendidly preserved center rich in history and churches.
Putignano's main reputation is related to the historic Carnival during which papier-mch artists showcase their art.
We continue to Gioia del Colle where we will take the ancient and characteristic route to get to Matera, known as the "City of Stones" and "Underground City".
The underground city takes its name from the massive presence of calcareous tuff, particularly friable and therefore suitable for human processing.
In this scenario, the populations that gradually followed one another were able to adapt the territory to their own needs and according to their needs, digging into the rock to obtain environments which, subsequently, became cisterns, stables, houses, churches, cellars and so on.
Matera is famous all over the world for the historic districts of the Sassi, where there are the ancient cave dwellings used since the Paleolithic and which make Matera one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world.
UNESCO recognized the "Sassi di Matera" as a World Heritage Site in 1993, together with the Rupestrian Churches of the area: this was the first site in southern Italy to receive such recognition.
This is where your bike tour ends and your walking tour begins.
