A memorable journey in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy: Tuscany, which every year attracts visitors from all over Europe, many of whom have even chosen to stay there forever, fascinated by its sweet hilly landscapes, its art treasures and culture. Lets talk about its wines and its delicious, rustic cuisine. The itinerary passes through Val d’Elsa, Chianti, Val d’Arno, Valdorcia, the Via Francigena, among vineyards and beautiful hills. You ride along delightful narrow streets with gentle ups and downs, touching Certaldo, Boccaccio's birthplace, the beautiful San Gimignano with a hundred towers, Volterra, an ancient and singular city that rises on top of a hill in the center of an unforgettable landscape, Siena with the extraordinary Piazza del Campo, the Cathedral and its characteristic medieval streets overlooked by splendid noble palaces.

THE PROGRAMME

1st day Individual arrival in Siena.
2nd day Siena - Brolio - Castelnuovo Berardenga - Asciano approx. 49 Km - disl. 830 mt
Characteristics: ups and downs through the Chianti Senese and the "Crete Senesi", 13 km of dirt road in good condition. The "Crete Senesi" are the area south-east of the city of Siena, which includes the municipalities of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Montalcino and Trequanda, all in the province of Siena
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: the castle of Brolio, the village of Villa a Sesta, the town of Asciano
Reasons of naturalistic interest: the panorama of the Chianti area with its vineyards and its woods.
3rd day Asciano - Monte Oliveto - San Giovanni d’Asso - Pienza approx. 52 Km - disl. 800 mt.
Characteristics: 12 km on dirt road, the rest on asphalted roads with non-existent traffic between the Crete and Valdorcia.
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: The monastic complex of Monte Oliveto, the medieval village of San Giovanni d’Asso, the monastery of S. Anna in Camprena and Pienza, the jewel of the Renaissance city.
Reasons of naturalistic interest: another change in the character of the territory as one faces the Valdorcia
4th day Pienza - S.Quirico - Montalcino - Buonconvento - Murlo approx. 56 Km - disl. 750 mt.
Features: 15 km of dirt road, the rest asphalt.
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: the historic center of S.Quirico, the city of Montalcino, the small medieval village of Murlo: unchanged fief of the bishop of Siena from the twelfth to the eighteenth century, which can be a destination for pleasant excursions in a landscape of rare beauty ..
Reasons of naturalistic interest: the wide views over wheat fields and cypress fields and the passage in the Valdarbia: it is located south of Siena and is mentioned by Dante in the Divine Comedy about the battle of Montaperti, in which the armies of Siena and Florence faced each other.
5th day Murlo - Radi - Sovicille - Monteriggioni - Colle Val d’Elsa approx. 64 Km - disl. 680 mt.
Features: mixed asphalt / excavation towards Montagnola and Valdelsa, on the trail of the Via Francigena: part of a bundle of routes, also called Roman roads, which from Western Europe, in particular from France, led to Southern Europe as far as Rome, then continuing towards Puglia, where there were the ports of embarkation for the Holy of pilgrims and crusaders.
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: the walls of Monteriggioni and the historic center of Colle Vald’Elsa.
6th day Colle Val d’Elsa - Casole d 'Elsa - Ulignano - Volterra approx. 47 Km - disl. 1110 m
Characteristics: mostly on asphalt, last kilometers uphill to reach Volterra.
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: the inhabited center of Casole d ’Elsa and Volterra.
Reasons of naturalistic interest: the views ranging from Val di Cecina to Valdelsa.

7th day Volterra - Il Castagno - San Gimignano - Certaldo - transfer by train to Siena approx. 47 Km - disl. 600 mt.
Features: entirely on asphalt; return to Siena by train from Certaldo.
Reasons of historical and artistic interest: the city of San Gimignano and the historic center of Certaldo, famous for being the birthplace and death of the poet and writer Giovanni Boccaccio.
Reasons of naturalistic interest: the view over the Valdera hills.
8th day Siena. End of the trip after breakfast
