AEOLIAN DELUXE TOUR/8 days

The Aeolian Islands have an ancient history. Obsidian (volcanic glass derived from the cooling of the lavas) was worked there since the Neolithic age, which was used, being hard and sharp, to build various weapons and tools. 

The export of obsidian throughout the Mediterranean gave Lipari, in particular, great economic wealth.

Aeolian Islands and Sicily The archipelago of the Aeolian Islands, north of the Sicilian coast, in the province of Messina, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Seven islands of volcanic origin in some of which there is still a fair amount of volcanic activity . The largest island is Lipari, followed by Salina. The smallest, Panarea, is also the most exclusive island, preferred by VIPs. Stromboli, thanks to the intense volcanic activity of "Iddu" has seen a strong increase in tourism in recent years.

it is by no means an island like any other, it is a volcano in the middle of the sea. The islanders call it "Iddu", it occupies almost the entire island for 900 meters and is always there, because it is active. It is impossible to ignore it, the volcano breathes, with plumes of smoke, craters, mouths of fire, lapilli, lava sand and the smell of sulfur.

Welcome to Stromboli. The volcano will never allow you, for as long as you stay, to forget about it. Volcano remains a very popular island for both spas and tourist attractions. Finally, Filicudi and Alicudi, west of the archipelago and close to Palermo, are the islands for lovers of nature and tranquility. In Alicudi there are no vehicles and it is characterized by a wild and uncontaminated territory.

Departure by hydrofoil from Milazzo to Lipari. Transfer from the port of Lipari to the hotel. Check in.

Accommodation in the rooms. Welcome cocktail. Dinner and overnight.

In the afternoon meeting with the guide at the hotel for a tour of the island of Lipari by private car. Stop at the main points such as Quattrocchi, a particular place where is possible to admire a beautiful landscape. Continue to Porticello, a town in Lipari where once the extraction of the white quarries, of pumice stonewas was carried out. 

At the end of the private tour, walking tour among most characteristic alleys of the center of Lipari among curiosities and traditions, to end with one tasting of typical products. 

Return to the hotel. Dinner in a gourmet restaurant.

Overnight in the hotel.

Departure by boat to Panarea/Stromboli.

The first stop is in Panarea where it will be possible to visit the small village with a pleasant walk along the streets that intersperse the white Aeolian-style houses. Then continue with the boat to Stromboli. Here, too, a stopover on the island is planned.

Stromboli is the most wild island because it seems to preserve its bond with nature. well, for example, in the streets there is no lighting !!.

Lunch in a selected restaurant.

Once you get back on the boat, you will continue around the island until you reach the Sciara del fuoco, a ridge of the crater from where the lava descends. 

From the boat it will also be possible to witness the evocative eruptions of the volcano that follow one another at intervals about fifteen minutes. Free dinner. 

Return to Lipari in the evening.  

Today the lunch is planned in Panarea.  There will be no dinner since the excursion involving the night eruption of Stromboli from the boat does foresse the return to Lipari in the late evening.  The meal has been foreseen at leisure when back to Lipari.

Overnight in the hotel.

After a stop in the center of S. Marina, we continue by boat to circumnavigate the island, swim in Pollara, the beach of the famous film "Il Postino" being the last interpretation for the Neapolitan actor Massimo Troisi,  who died in his sleep only a few hours after filming ended. The film is inspired by the novel The Postman of Neruda (Ardiente paciencia), by the Chilean writer Antonio Skármeta.

Free lunch. Continue to Lingua, fraction of the municipality Salina, where there is a salt lake from which in ancient times salt was extracted (hence the name of the island). Return to Lipari in the afternoon. 

Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

The first was formerly called Phoenicodes due to the presence, in the past, of numerous dwarf palms. The coasts of Filicudi present uncommon beauties; you can admire the La Canna stack, the Perciato (perforated) and the Bue Marino, sea ox, cave. The latter is the most famous and has an ogival entrance, with a particular atrium and with a very large cavity. The play of light and shadow produces suggestive phenomena; this cave is a refuge, an oasis of peace, one of the most enchanted corners of the kingdom of Aeolus. Free lunch. Continue to Alicudi. Return to Lipari in the afternoon. 

Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

6th day: Breakfast. Departure by boat to Vulcano.
Circumnavigation of the island by boat. Once on the ground it will be possible to climb the crater (about 45 minutes) or take a bath in the mud, famous for the regenerating effect of the skin. Free lunch. Return to Lipari in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

7th day: breakfast. Free day for sea and relaxation.
Free lunch. Dinner and overnight.

8th day: Check-out.
Transfer from the hotel to the port and departure for Milazzo. Transfer by private car to Catania Fontanarossa.

  It is important to know that the restaurants included in the package are starred and of excellent quality: the Filippino Restaurant which is the most renowned of the Aeolian Islands, is included in the Michelin magazine and is known as the restaurant of good memories. Also an excellent restaurant is "E Pulera" also included in the Michelin guide. Both restaurants are located in the center of Lipari and therefore easily reachable on foot. The third restaurant is located in a fraction of the island and exactly 5 km from the center and is called “Le Macine”
