Giosuè Carducci, famous italian poet, saied it is the city of a hundred horizons. Asolo is one of the most evocative historic centers in Italy. Collected within the ancient walls that branch off from the Rocca, a fortress of the 12th century, it preserves evidence of its millenary history in every corner. A fascinating place on the sweet hills of Asolo, it was a destination for poets and writers, artists and travelers, who found inspiration and harmony here. Among these the English poet Robert Browning, Eleonora Duse, an Italian theater actress, dubbed the divine, considered the greatest stage actress of her era and one of the greatest of all time, the composer Gian Francesco Malipiero, the English writer and traveler Freya Stark.
