NURAGHE
The Nuragic civilization developed in Sardinia over a chronological span of about a thousand years, giving rise to a very complicated social structure. The typical architectural structures of this civilization are known as Nuraghi and are prehistoric fortress-houses with turreted walls consisting of two-storey towers in the shape of a truncated cone, made with stones of different sizes arranged dry in overlapping concentric circles that tighten towards the top, with doors surmounted by architraves, access corridors and internal circular chambers covered by pseudocupole. Generally the nuraghe was built on plateaus and did not have a burial function as was believed in the past years. Some nuraghi even reached 22 meters in height. Pixabay photo
